The first phase of a three-day professional development program for school librarians from Armenia’s Kotayk Region has been successfully completed at the Khnko Aper National Children’s Library.
The training program provided participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in key areas of library management, including collection development and processing, cataloging and inventory procedures, catalog organization, and the use of electronic library information systems.
The sessions also explored effective reader services, collaboration between school libraries and teaching staff, library collection organization, the development of digital libraries, and the strategic use of social media in library work.
An important component of the program was the exchange of professional experience with the Head Librarian of the Shirakatsy Lyceum International Scientific and Educational Complex. Participants also took part in hands-on workshops focused on designing educational and cultural initiatives that encourage children’s reading.
Throughout the three-day program, librarians actively participated in discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and collaborative activities, creating new opportunities for professional networking and the exchange of ideas. The training equipped participants with practical tools and updated knowledge to strengthen the services they provide in their school libraries.
