Back to book

Towards the 500th anniversary of Armenian typography and Yerevan World Book Capital events in 2012, National Library after Khnko Aper undertook the first major project “Back to book” (International Art Festival) in October 2010 with the support of the Ministry of Culture and the Municipality of Yerevan. The project, which is unprecedented in the region, has a tendency to draw public attention to the problems of books and young adult’s reading. With the help of various events like book fairs, exhibitions, topical discussions, workshops, round tables, master classes, presentations, comic, story-telling by the Ambassadors in Armenia, theatrical performances, art exhibitions and film festivals, the annual Festival tries to promote young adults’ reading, book art’s and typography’s cultural development. The Festival is attended by artists, writers and publishers from various countries. One of the outstanding achievements of the Festival is IBBY’s membership which is the founder of Andersen’s “Little Nobel Prize”, and develops children’s book policy worldwide. To have bigger auditorium activities are carried out to extend the geography of the Festival year by year.
